I was privileged to be on Mykonos in the summer of 1978 , it was a hot glaringly white paradise , inexpensive hotels, great clubs, gay friendly, we caught a 1drachma fishing boat ride to an almost deserted Super Paradise beach, great food & delicious fresh pastries from the bakery near the quay. and to top it o..Petros the famous pelican was ever present on the quayside..beautiful memories .... unlike yours or other sad British tourists.

Fun video. I just found you as this video popped up in my feed. I don't know why it was rated so badly. Any "popular tourist spot" (especially with cruise ships) is going to be expensive. I travelled with my students in the Mediteranean many times and I had to teach them to check out the side streets and less popular/crowded places to find bargains/keep a budget. Souvlaki is always good (the chicken skewers you ate), but there are so many other good foods in Greece. The desert was baklava and it can be different town to town, region to to region.

Venice the most Stunning Place in the World. Thats all i can say. Better after the Cruise Ships have buggered off though, Standing on St Marks Square is a pleasure. Walk towards the water and turn right the Church on the far bank takes your breath away. You thinking the UK has History. Its got Nothing compaired to Italy. Tears in my eyes thinking of Venince what a place.

So far my decission on never visiting Benidorm has held me in good stead.

Please Ed, don´t try pronouncing foreign words. Please I beg you. As a greek, that was painful. Mykonos was a favourite of mine in the 80s. The most cosmopolitan of the islands. My best friend´s family had a house there. Amazing nightlife. Good times.

You can actually stay at a real hotel for £50-£70 per night. Why stay in a coffin for the same price?

£210 a week for that is horrendous and it’s in Hackney. Where you may get stabbed. There clearly isn’t even proper airflow in the coffin

At the time I visited it was well known as the hot spot for gays in Greece. I guess since then it has suffered gentrification badly…hhhhh.

The British were "in charge" of Egypt from 1886 till the Suez crisis in the 1960s (Google for exact dates or pink bits on maps)... there was the small thing of WW2/El Alamein/Ice Cold in Alex (Carlsberg dreaming btw). Egypt has endured tourism for thousands of years... currency is £! ... Frankly, as an Oldie, I'm shocked at majority Muslim countries supplying pig meat for tourists. I've seen seven on a motorbike in Sri Lanka... they did have toddler out-baskets/mum/dad/grandma/other kids.
